Life's Journey |
The average American is unprepared to deal with the financial challenges that they will face during their lifetime. Theses include college funding, buying a home, purchasing a car, credit management, retirement, insurance and other major financial decisions. For example, after 30 - 40 years of work many Americans today still depend upon a combination of savings strategies to make ends meet in retirement. Even with major tax law changes enabling people to save for retirement through 401K/403b and IRA's many do not take advantage of this opportunity. The Life's Journey financial seminar is designed to raise awareness of the need for effective financial planning and financial goal setting. This is done by examining ten (10) life phases and seven (7) critical events that Global Performance Strategies has identified through research. Combining awareness with seminar hands-on tools and techniques attendees are able to immediately apply what they have learned to build an effective individual plan. The Life's Journey ProcessThe Life's Journey project began over 20 years ago with the idea of helping people to understand life phases from a financial point of view. Financial planning, budgeting, financial goal setting, savings and contingencies were found to be key success factors in the personal journeys that Global Performance Strategies researched with the Life's Journey survey and focus groups. Life's Journey is unlike any other model on the market. Many books, financial seminars, and products address a single topic (e.g. investing, wills, or estate planning) while this model takes a more comprehensive approach by viewing life from a practical, real-life perspective. Those who attend the Life's Journey seminars and use associated materials learn to see the relationship between life phases and the events that shape them while developing specific strategies to address each phase. The ten-phase Life's Journey model examines the traditional phases that most people go through during their journey. While the model has specific significance to everyone, it provides a unique planning resource for women, minorities, and younger people. This is because these groups have often been denied, or had limited access to, financial life planning and decision-making that affects them.
